A Relaxed and Personal Rutland Countryside Wedding

Shaza & Simon’s two-day wedding in the heart of the Rutland countryside was everything a laid-back, joyful celebration should be. From an intimate ceremony at a hidden gothic fort to a big village hall party with craft cocktails and ceilidh dancing – this wedding was full of heart, character, and personal touches.

Day One – Intimate Ceremony at Fort Henry, Exton Park

The weekend began with a peaceful and emotional civil ceremony at Fort Henry, an incredible gothic lakeside retreat tucked away in Exton Park. With just 20 of their closest loved ones and their dog Alfie (who made a surprise appearance at the signing and photos!), Shaza & Simon shared their vows in one of the most unique wedding venues in Rutland. The pace of the day was slow and calm, with plenty of time to relax in the sunshine and soak it all in. Later, the celebrations continued over a laid-back dinner at the Olive Branch Pub – one of their favourite local spots. No rush. No pressure. Just a perfectly relaxed start to their wedding weekend.

Day Two – Big Party Vibes, Gin Cocktails & Ceilidh Dancing

On day two, the tempo picked up with a beautiful church blessing followed by a relaxed countryside party at the local village hall. This time, 120 friends and family joined in, and the atmosphere was just as personal – full of love, laughter and sunshine. Shaza & Simon did everything themselves with help from family, transforming the hall into a celebration space with heartfelt DIY touches. Guests were treated to Two Birds Spirits gin cocktails (Simon’s own creation as a master distiller!), craft beer, fish & chips, and even an ice cream van. The ceilidh band got everyone dancing as the sun set – the perfect way to end a weekend full of joy and connection. We especially loved seeing Simon gently help Shaza get ready in the morning – calming, thoughtful and completely them.
