Every so often we’re lucky enough to shoot weddings in some of our favourite parts of the world. One of these places is Scotland. It’s a special place for us and were it not for the slightly more reliable weather offered by Italy, Scotland would have been our own wedding location. So you can imagine the smiles on our faces when Hannah & Dan asked us to capture their humanist wedding at the stunning Guardswell Farm in Scotland.
Guardswell is out of this world…a 150 acre grassland farm nestled high up in the hills with panoramic views to die for. They even have gorgeous guest huts and houses on the farm so that the wedding party are all close by. It felt more like a ‘wedding escape’ than anything else. Just stunning!
Hannah & Dan stole the show though….we couldn’t have wished to meet a nicer couple. We met up before their day for a few drinks and hit it off straight away. So much fun and easy going, we knew without a doubt that their wedding was going to be awesome. They eased into their day by getting ready on opposite sides of Guardswell to each other. It was incredibly peaceful and just a short walk to their intimate ceremony, which was led by the wonderful humanist wedding celebrant Caroline Lambie. Caroline’s ceremony was beautiful, moving and so personal to Hannah & Dan.
The weather was cold, really cold, so hats off to these guys for wanting to brave the weather and head out to catch the last light with us. It was worth it though, the light was amazing and we just made it back before it started hailing down! Things soon warmed up with a pizza oven and fire pits outside and a huge party kicking off inside. In true Scottish form, there was some impressive ceilidh dancing as these guys know how to do it…unbelievably fast and furious, flinging each other around like nothing else we’ve seen.
It was one hell of a wedding from beginning to end. We loved every minute!
