When we were asked to photograph Mary and Josh’s engagement shoot in our local Nottinghamshire, little did we know that it would lead to such an epic adventure, journeying across the pond to their barn wedding venue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Josh got down on one knee in the beautiful Sherwood Pines Forest in Nottinghamshire, one of their favourite walking spots, so it felt only right to return there for their engagement shoot. Mary and Josh come from the sporting world and met in the US during their education. Then after a few years in the UK planned to move back to America for work and start their new life as Mr & Mrs.
When asked to join them for the big day in the USA we jumped at the chance to capture it! They chose an incredible barn wedding venue at Pine Hall Farms in Pittsburgh and their day was an explosion of American-style fun! Both had an entourage of groomsmen and bridesmaids getting ready metres from each other, then coming together for their picturesque outdoor wedding ceremony, officiated by one of Mary’s brothers.
Then, party…party…party!! Starting with a never-before-seen-dance-off from the guys and girls who paired up and competed to enter the barn in their own unique style. Footie passes, beer swilling, caterpillar dancing…what a way to make an entrance!
Before the sun set, we ventured out into the grounds of Pine Hall Farm for Mary and Josh’s couple shoot and were spoilt for choice with backdrops. From crop fields, to forest, to the jitty on the lake…whilst being transported to each on the back of a buggy. What a wild ride that was too!
What a privilege and experience it was to capture these guy’s wedding journey and be part of their mind blowing fun celebrations! From the Pines of Nottinghamshire to the Pine Farm of the USA. This truly was a wedding to remember.
Here’s a few highlights from their day…
